An Objective Guide to Liposuction

As a female-led clinic, we speak daily with mothers and professional women who are seeking honest, straightforward information about liposuction surgery. Liposuction is one of the most frequently discussed procedures in our practice. However, navigating the sheer volume of cosmetic information online can be overwhelming.

At Eydis Aesthetics, our core philosophy is built on providing you with compassionate care and objective medical facts. If you are considering liposuction surgery, our goal is to ensure you have a clear, accurate understanding of the surgical mechanics, the physical realities of recovery, and the outcomes you can realistically expect.

The Mechanics of Liposuction

Clinically, liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove localised deposits of subcutaneous fat. It is important to state clearly from the outset: liposuction is not a treatment for weight loss or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Instead, it is a highly targeted surgical method used for shaping and addressing specific areas of anatomical disproportion.

During the procedure, Dr Charlotte Ying, our cosmetic surgery practitioner, utilises a specialised, hollow medical instrument called a cannula. She typically employs the tumescent technique, which involves the targeted injection of a sterile solution—containing local anaesthetic and medication to constrict blood vessels—into the subcutaneous fat layer. This clinical process prepares the tissues, allowing Dr Charlotte Ying to carefully and precisely extract excess fat cells from specific areas, such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, knees, hips, chin, or arms, while minimising surrounding tissue trauma.

Understanding Surgical Candidacy

Honest guidance means telling you when a procedure is the right clinical fit for your body—and when it isn’t.

An ideal candidate for liposuction is at or near their target, stable weight, but has stubborn areas of localised fat that do not respond to physical exercise or dietary changes. Furthermore, skin elasticity is a critical clinical factor that we must assess. For an optimal outcome, your skin must have the structural integrity to retract smoothly over the treated area once the underlying fat volume is removed.

During your private consultation, Dr Charlotte Ying conducts a thorough physical examination to evaluate your tissue quality, muscle tone, and fat distribution. If your skin lacks the necessary elasticity, Dr Charlotte Ying will be completely transparent with you and may discuss alternative clinical approaches to ensure your final result is anatomically sound.

Understanding the Investment and Consultation

We understand that discussing your body and physical shape can feel vulnerable. Our clinic provides a private, supportive, and entirely female-led environment where you can discuss your physical concerns without judgement.

We also believe in complete transparency regarding the cost of liposuction. While overall surgical fees vary based on the body areas, the required operating theatre time, and the medical equipment used, your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation for a fee of $220.00.

During this consultation, Dr Charlotte Ying maps out a customised surgical plan based strictly on your unique anatomy. She does not chase artificial cosmetic trends or standardised aesthetics, and takes time to listen to your specific functional and anatomical goals, ensuring you have the clinical education required to make a highly informed decision.

The Reality of Post-Operative Recovery

Dr Charlotte Ying believes in complete transparency regarding the surgical recovery timeline. Liposuction is a significant surgical intervention, and your body requires dedicated time and strict adherence to post-operative protocols to heal properly.

In the immediate days following the procedure, you will experience swelling, bruising, tenderness, and fluid drainage. This is an expected part of the body’s inflammatory healing response. You will be required to wear a specialised clinical compression garment 24 hours a day for 4-6 weeks. This medical garment is non-negotiable—it applies necessary pressure to reduce fluid buildup and supports your skin when it is healing.

Most patients need to take at least one to two weeks away from their professional duties, depending on the physical demands of their occupation. For mothers, it is vital to arrange childcare support, as lifting, carrying, and strenuous movement are strictly prohibited in the early stages of healing.

You will need to avoid all heavy lifting and rigorous exercise for a minimum of 3-4 weeks. While you will notice a difference in your physical volume early on, you must be aware that residual tissue swelling can take up to six to twelve months to fully resolve before your final results are established.

Our clinical team will closely monitor your healing progress through regular, dedicated wound checks in our private recovery rooms. We also provide PEMF bruising and radiofrequency lymphatic drainage treatments for all our liposuction patients in their recovery periods to safely support tissue recovery and assist with the management of post-operative swelling. Furthermore, once the initial surgical shaping has settled, we offer non-surgical body contouring methods post-surgery to further refine and support your final outcomes.
